While Where to Retire promises to deliver coverage on all aspects of retirement relocation or retirement migration, the focus tends to be on retirement communities and developments.

Where to Retire magazine started publishing in 1997 and is a subsidiary publication of Vacation Publications, a publisher also known for their cruise and travel publications.
Where to Retire Circulation
Where to Retire magazine boasts a circulation of 220,000 per year with the highest number of subscribers and purchasers in the mid and south Atlantic regions.
Quality of Where to Retire Magazine
Where to Retire is a magazine made to sell advertising, not to inform readers. As a result, the pages are flush with advertisements for developments, communities, retirement homes and products for seniors rather than informative articles.
Overall, the quality is very poor and most of the articles read like press releases for the various retirement communities or luxury retirement homes that they’re covering.
While the magazine may offer some great ideas for a migrating retiree, it shouldn’t be depended on for hard-hitting journalism.
Unfortunately, it’s the only publication that focuses specifically on retirement migration and retirement developments. If you’re planning a move, it may be worth picking up a copy.

A one-year, six-issue subscription to Where to Retire will cost $18.00 or $3.00 per issue. That’s a savings of about $12 or $2 off the cover price on each issue.
Unfortunately, the discount on a subscription isn’t deep enough to warrant splurging on six issues of substandard content.
Overall Rating for Where to Retire Magazine
On a scale of one to ten, Where to Retire Magazine rates at about a four. The copy reads like advertisements, the research is nominal and there are far too many ads.
While it may be a good starting point for wealthy retirees looking for a resort community, this isn’t a good magazine for retirees on a fixed or limited income.
