Beginner's Guide to Investing! Investing for Dummies! Plan for Retirement Now! These book titles may scream at you from the shelves at Barnes and Noble or Bookers, but are they any good? Are they offering sage, original advice or just a rehash of the other thousands of books on the subject? And most importantly, are they actually geared towards beginners? For a review of some of the best beginner's guide to investing books out there for the retirement planning market, keep reading. Book: How to Invest $50-$5000 Author: Nancy Dunnan This book has been republished in numerous editions thanks to its popularity and staying power as one of the best guides to investing for he absolute beginner. If you're totally new to investing, young (and even not so young) and really just starting out and wondering where to go, this book can really help. Dunnan also offers a great chapter on maximizing your 401k contributions that really breaks down the process and helps the true beginner understand how a 401k really works. If you need a beginner's guide to investing that works as well for a 22-year-old as it does for a 50-year-old, this is it. Book: Investing From Scratch: A Handbook for the Young Investor Author: James Lowell This book is really geared towards the young worker, maybe in their early 30s, who has some money they want to invest or maybe just wants to start thinking about retirement, but they don't know how or where to start. Lowell breaks every discussed investment opportunity out in terms that are simple, but straightforward and right. He also offers a great section on retirement savings that's invaluable, making this book a good beginner's guide to investing. Book: Your Complete Retirement Planning Road Map Author: Ed Slott This really is a complete guide to securing IRAs, 401(k)s and all sorts of other savvy retirement savings and planning tools. In this book, Slott takes the reader through a comprehensive step-by-step process to saving for retirement. The best part is that there are plans for whether you're 25 and starting to save or you're 50 and just beginning to think about your retirement. Book: Cash-Rich Retirement: Use The Investing Techniques of the Mega-Wealthy to Secure Your Retirement Future Author: Jim Schlagheck In this relatively new book, Schlagheck turns retirement savings plans around and recommends individuals manage their own savings (with professional help) and stick to prudent investments that deliver ongoing, steady growth. The best thing about this book is how easy it is to follow and understand. Some of the concepts that Schlagheck discusses are complex and yet he somehow breaks it down into a true beginner's guide to investing. See also: All Site Articles for Senior Retirement Tips
